God Can’t Use Me Because I’m A Failure…?

There has been something on my mind lately that coincidentally, the preacher preached on this morning. I think everyone has experienced that time when you go to church and the preacher talks about the issue you have been recently having. It’s just one of those God things I think.

Often times I let Satan get me down. You see, sometimes I get around people who seem so completely and utterly Godly and perfect that I start to feel like I can never live up to those same standards. It starts to make me feel like I might as well hang up the towel now, because I can never be good enough for God or good enough for ministry. I start to feel like someone completely unqualified to do God’s work. Like suddenly I am unqualified to even be a Christian at all… After all, why bother when you already know you can never meet the standards that appear to be required?

Here’s the thing: Anyone can follow Jesus! All you have to do is take that first step. If you are involved in ministry, don’t let Satan make you feel unqualified or too imperfect to do what God has called you to do. If you are simply someone who is trying to decide what you believe, remember that everyone has flaws, and no one is perfect.

As Christians, we have to run from sin like it’s the plague, but we don’t have to let it crush us when we make a mistake. We need to be sure we are repenting of sin, but also we need to be honest about who we are. Being “fake” and “perfect” doesn’t win over any un-believers. In fact, people can generally tell when you are hiding something and it usually just ends up making them feel bitter and uncomfortable toward our beliefs.

If you’ve made mistakes, get up! God is so much bigger than our flaws and problems. Don’t let yourself be intimidated by the people who appear to be all-too-perfect, because odds are, things are not what they seem. Remember, no one is perfect except God. Man will always fail you, but God will never fail you!

You’re never too far from God to ask for forgiveness and return to His saving grace! Think about it this way, if you were the only person on earth that needed saving, Jesus would have come and died on the cross anyway. Just to save you! That’s how much He loves you. Jesus already knew us before we were born, and He knew us when He died for us. No matter how unqualified you feel you are, God can use you if only you give yourself to Him.

Romans 5:6

You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly.”
